Inside Out

It is Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and this week our challenge to you is called Inside Out.  We want you to make a card and finish the inside as nicely as you would finish the outside.  I love this butterfly and decided to make it the focus of my card this week.  I added lots of gems on the front but didn't add any on the inside butterflies so that the card would close properly.  I have also made sure to leave space for a handwritten message.

A couple of weeks ago, I received the most wonderful package of crafting goodies from several of my teammates from Sugar Creek Hollow.  I oohed and aahed over them and then I found homes for everything but it wasn't until I had everything put away that I realized I should have made notes of who sent what.  So as I use the different gifts, I will be saying it was a gift but I apologize that I won't be able to say who it came from.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

AI Factory - Monochromatic
Rainbow Lady  - Shabby Chic
Stampin" for the Weekend - Monochromatic
Wags and Whiskers - Punches

Looking Good

Wow Friday came around fast this week.  Today our challenge to you at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is to create a card using this sketch.  You can flip it as I did or rotate it, but please make sure that the sketch is identifiable in your card.  There is a random winner and the Design Team choose one card each week as Card of the Week.  The creator of that card will then be in the running to be our monthly Guest Designer.  That is lots of reasons to enter a creation but most importantly, if you use a Phindy image you get two entries and with all the fabulous images in her store, including the new Wee Babbies, you really should use a Phindy image.

I am heading to Alberta on Monday and taking my four year-old Granddaughter with me. We are spending three days in Calgary so she can play with some little cousins who are grandchildren of my husband's cousins.  Then we head to Medicine Hat for three days to check on my Mother-in-Law (her Great Grandmother) and celebrate her 89th birthday. I spend time every day with my Granddaughter but I usually don't have to keep her entertained all day so I should be really exhausted by the time I get back.  This will be really special for Nana since she can't come our way anymore so I will hang in. I will have access to a computer part of the time so do leave me a comment - it will make my day.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Outlawz Challenges - Prismas & Other Mediums - Punch it Up
Paper Romance - Anything Goes
Moving Along with the Times - Fashion
Some Odd Girl - Handmade Embellishments

Mug Shot & Guest Designer Spot

Last week I was selected as a top pick at Raise the Bar Challenge and was asked to be a Guest Designer.  The challenge this week is called Mug Shot.  Since winter is almost gone (we wish), the challenge is to make a card showing that last mug of something hot that is needed to keep you warm.  Soon the weather will be nice and we will be drinking long cool drinks on the patio.

I decided to let this fun mug be the star of this card and go clean and simple.  For someone who loves to embellish, that was a bit difficult for me but I like the way it turned out.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Digi Doodle Shops Best - Spots and Dots
Outlawz Challenges - Prismas & Other Mediums - Punch it up

My Mother's Apron

Today is another Sensational Saturday at Sugar Creek Hollow and our challenge to you this week is to create a card or other paper crafting project and use buttons and bows.  This reminds me so much of the type of apron my Mother wore when she baked when I was a youngster a zillion years ago:)

I found some wonderful digital paper at Raspberry Road to use for the apron and then used a couple of the blue papers in the pack along with some red gingham from my paper stash.  I think this apron is such a fun image from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe and lends itself so nicely to paper piecing so that is just what I did and then popped a second image up with foam dots.  The baking powder ad and the old handwritten recipe card came off the internet and I apologize but I forgot to make a note of the sources.  I added some wonderful crinkly ribbon that was a gift from Tracy, the owner of Sugar Creek Hollow along with some red buttons and cooking themed buttons.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

AI Factory  - In the Kitchen
Digi Doodles Best Shop - Anything Goes
Do You Stack Up - Dots

Sunshine Fairy

Our challenge to you this week at Phindy's Friday Challenge Blog is to create a monochromatic card.  It is so dull and dreary here with piles of snow still on the ground that I decided I needed to make something cheerful and I thought this would fit the bill.  You are going to be blown away by the inspiration provided from the rest of the Design Team.

I don't usually like to work from a sketch unless I have to and this week I didn't have to but for some reason decided to follow this sketch from Sketch Saturday.  The senior mind is an weird place, isn't it?

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Winter Bear

So the weather man has decided to mess with our heads. Yesterday it was actually starting to warm up and then by about 4:00 p.m. it had dropped six degrees. This morning it was -13C when I started out to do my morning kidlet chores and by Thursday it is going to be +13C - go figure.

Our challenge to you this week at Delightful Challenges is to make a card or other paper crafting project featuring animals.  Since we still have a pile of snow, I decided to go with this cute waving bear.  I think he is waving because his toboggan went down the hill without him.

Our challenge this week is generously sponsored by Michelle's Scrapbooking & More who will be supplying the random winner with a gift certificate to the store.

I am entering this card in the following challenges;

Creative Craft World - Use a Square

Spring is in the Air or Is it?

The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday Challenge blog is to create a card celebrating Springtime.  For those of us in traditional snow belts, spring is ages away yet and we can only dream that it is in the air.

When I was a kid, we had a really long clothesline and no dryer so everything was hung on the line all year round.  In the kind of weather we are experiencing now, the sheets came inside frozen stiff so then my Mom would have to drape them over every chair to allow them to thaw and warm up.  The clothes smelled divine when dried on the line but the best was the way they smelled in the spring.  My dryer broke last summer and I had to put some clothes outside to dry on a rack and even with warm weather, the clothes took ages to dry and weren't soft and fluffy so I concluded that I am sticking with a dryer.

I am going to enter this card in the following challenges:

Pile It On - Bright and Breezy

Dragon Valentine

Today our new challenge for you at Delightful Challenges is to make a card or other paper crafting project using your punches or die cuts.  I made this cute little Dragon into a Valentine's Day card for my 22 month-old grandson.  He is really starting to talk and string words together but most of them start with My so I suspect this will be "My Card" - LOL.

February Sketch from Sugar Creek Hollow

I am back from my trip to Cayo Largo, Cuba and the weather was fabulous. Of course, I got too much sun despite all the sun screen. I read 2 1/2 books, taught my friends how to play cribbage and ate way too much. Now I am sitting here in my warm and fuzzies wishing I could have stayed longer. Oh well, it will be fun to craft again.

It is Sensational Saturday again at Sugar Creek Hollow and today we have a sketch to challenge you with.

I decided to create a birthday card for my Sister-in-Law using this February Violet Label from the Sugar Creek Hollow Shoppe.  Unfortunately for me but fortunately for her I won't be able to give it to until after her birthday because she and my brother are also relaxing in the Caribbean.  We sure get sick of the snow about now here in Canada:)

Wild Thing

I am a little sad today because I am on my way home from my week in Cuba, which means a return to cold and snow - brrr.

The challenge this week at Phindy's Friday Challenges is to create a card or other paper crafting project with embossing.  You can use dry embossing as I have or you can do heat embossing.

I was scrambling to get all my DT commitments done before I left on vacation and this was the last card I made and wouldn't you know it, the design in my head forgot to make its way to the finished card so this isn't quite what I hoped it would be but I am sure that happens to all of us.  The important part is the fabulous image and she looks pretty happy kicking up her heels.
